Be Thankful

Thank goodness I don't have to leave the house today. If I did, I'm sure I'd be hearing a mixture of "Oh, happy Memorial Day" and "Fuck this war, fuck the troops, etc..." and I would be going insane. Just remember what today is really for, please. It is a day to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice; they've given their lives for the freedoms and luxuries in this country of OTHER PEOPLE. They don't get to enjoy those freedoms until after they're out of the service, and some don't make it out alive. Many don't make it out with physical or emotional scars. So, please, when you start your little protests about the military, think about who has been fighting to allow you to speak so freely like that without being executed. Don't hate the people that fight for your freedoms, they're just doing their job. And they miss being home. They miss everything about it. My man misses his family, his friends, the hills of Pennsylvania, sitting down and watching the Steelers play on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays... and all the other pro football games and just being able to relax and tailgate. He misses the feel of me lying next to him and the smell of my hair. He misses the taste of my kiss and the feel of my hugs. He misses being able to call me whenever he wanted and the days when he had his rights (because guess what, those rights he fights for are very restricted). He misses driving a car and misses me being in that passenger seat (or vice versa). So while you're outside enjoying your day off of work and living like it's another day, don't forget to thank your United States Military and honor the fallen. It only takes a second. And if you don't, well, I guess I can thank a serviceman or woman for your right to ignorance. Have a great day.
