You drive drunk, by all means, run yourself into a pole. Take your OWN life. That's how the world is supposed to work; if you're too weak or too stupid to live, you don't survive. But when you do things that endanger the well being of others that have everything to live for and yet YOU, the imbecile that made the decision to roll the dice of life and death, continue living, you deserve the most severe punishment. You deserve to have longer years in prison. You CHOSE to get behind the wheel of that vehicle, so you CHOSE to take the risk of hurting someone else.
Moral of the story is: don't be a [dumb] ass. Call a cab, have a designated driver in place, call a friend for a ride and place to stay the night, call your MOTHER or someone who won't let you down, I personally don't give a shit which of those options you take. You could spend the night in a dark alley for all I care. Just don't drink and drive. Don't be that asshole.
